SMETNJAKOVIH 12: Marquetz

Marquetz, primorski elektro nadobudnež, je pustni razblodnji prispeval neprimerno več kot le čvrsto protiutež emo disku na velikem. Pazite nanj.

Zahvale gredo tudi g. Borgie-ju in njegovi založbi Adriatiko Rec.

Modro-rdeča kapsula v trikotni obliki zelene barve. :)

5. Katere so tvoje super moči?

SMETNJAKOVIH 12: Butyreux

Butyreux (“it is pronounced ‘butirò’ and it means buttery in French”) of Trash-Dance is another one in line of the Italian-breed super producers. Hailing from the epicentre of spaghetti electro uprising, the hometown of Sir Bob Rifo of The Bloody Beetroots, his sound blends the usual suspects of current floor slaying aroma: abundance of synthesizers, profusion of filters and distortion, and harsh pumping beats. The twist comes up later. Seize it tomorrow.

1. Who are you, what do you do and where do you do it?
I’m Michele from the North-East of Italy, producer and a dj for the world.

2. Describe your sound in 12 words!
A mix of Pump funk acid happy zippy house music without cocaine.

3. Which musician/music act did most significantly influence your music taste?
A clichè answer would be Daft Punk, but I was influenced mostly by the early 90’s house music (before the electro wave), for example by David Morales for his music, melody, beats and for the mixing technique.

4. Blue pill or red pill?
Blue pill – serenity without consciousness.

5. Which are your superpowers?
The power of mixing and the laser beam.

6. Which song should have been on every CD recorded for the loved one?
Bryan Adams – (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, but I never recorded a love CD for a girl….

7. Who is DJ Umek?
A dj/producer whom I heard play at Global disco 4 summers ago when I was in Ljubljana on vacations.

8. Why do they put round pizza in a square box?
For a marketing reason. Making round boxes is more expensive than doing square ones. And also because pizzas have an irregular shape… If you wanted a star shaped pizza would they give it to you in a star shaped box? Square box is more useful!

9. What do you do, when you are not occupied with music?
I’m studying economics at University of Venice.

Square boxes are easier to make, ship and store flat. Round boxes typically have to be pre-made and are more bulky to transport. Circular pizza is easier to cut into slices. Also, if the pizza were square, it would look weird.

SMETNJAKOVIH 12: Volatile

The following words were written on this very computer one month ago: “Volatile was formed only two years ago through a trans-alpine connection of two young yet versatile producers, NubiS from Slovenia and Feral from Switzerland. The pair shared a passion for 90’s big beat, drum’n’bass and the new wave of electro, which gave birth to a perilous monster: the sound so powerful and chaotic that it should be measured with Richter magnitude scale. The youngsters’ flair for destruction was noticed swiftly – The Proxy picked up their very first single and tracklisted it in his mix for Kissy Sell Out’s BBC Radio 1 show, while Hostage started spreading their name through his live sets and by praising them on the musical blogosphere. Their first official release – Faces Of War EP – has seen the light of day through an independent digital label Studio Internova shortly after. While the conscientious twosome continued to produce track after track, their take on Röyksopp’s Tricky Tricky landed nearly at the top of the hypem.com popularity chart on several occasions, second only to mainstream artists like Kanye West. With a potent fascination with music, heaps of exciting unreleased materials and an upcoming Australian tour with notorious Trashbags Kids, Volatile is destined to explode. Get to know them, before your friends do.”

Still, before we send them out into the world, we have to try them out for ourselves. The ultimate test of the semi-domestic duo will take place in four weeks at Klub K4. If they survive this, they will survive just anything.
